To enter the 2010 ActionCOACH My Business Awards, please prepare an Awards submission for any of the following categories:

  1. The GIO Award for Best Small Business
  2. The Optus Award for Best Medium Business
  3. The Sage Award for Fastest Growing Small Business
  4. The ANZ Award for Best Start-Up Business
  5. Award for Best Regional Business
  6. The QuickBooks Award for Best Retailer
  7. Award for Best Green Business
  8. The Canon Award for Best Technology in an SME
  9. Award for Best E-Business
  10. The 2UE Award for Best Young Gun in Small Business

AWARD ENTRY QUESTIONS

  1. Describe and outline your core business. (max 250 words)
  2. How did the business commence and how did your business identify a market need for your product / service initially? (max 1000 words)
  3. Does your business have a competitive advantage or unique selling point over your competitors? (max 1000 words)
  4. How does your business promote / advertise your product / service?
  5. What are your business long term goals and how do you plan to achieve these?
  6. What sort of programs and strategies does your business employ for staff training and staff retention? (max 1000 words)
  7. Why should your business win the ActionCOACH My Business Awards Category you have selected, and what would winning this Award mean to your business? (max 1000 words)
  8. Please state your annual turnover for the past two financial years. Your business must be in operation for the past two financial years. (All financial information with be treated with the strictest confidence, and will only be used for the purpose of judging entries only. This information will not be disclosed to anyone outside the judging process.)  a) 2007 – 2008  b) 2008 - 2009
  9. How many full time staff does your company employ?
  10. List any Business Awards your company has won or been a finalist in the past
  11. Attach any independent reviews or client/customer testimonials on your business
  12. Attach any current promotional and marketing material, such as brochures, CD-ROMs, etc. that you would like to add to your application. It is strongly recommended that you post these items to My Business Awards, Level 12, 99 Walker Street, North Sydney NSW 2060. To be received by Friday 20th August 2010 at the latest
  13. Attach a high-resolution image (jpg/tiff format only, with min 300 dpi) of the business owner and/or team

JUDGES TIPS

It is strongly recommended that you provide hard copies of supporting marketing / promotional material with your submission, ie: printed brochures, newsletters, magazines, advertisements or examples of your business product. For example if your business manufactures stickers, it would be advantageous if the judges could see a sample of the stickers.

If you submit your entry online please, submit your supporting material by post, and include a covering letter stating you have submitted an online submission and your material will be married up for the Judges.

CONDITIONS OF ENTRY

  • Entrants for a small business must employ between 1 and 20 employees.
  • Entrants for a medium business must employ between 21 and 200 employees.
  • Only Australian registered businesses are eligible.
  • Nominees may be sole traders, partners, franchisees or owners of limited liability companies and incorporated businesses.
  • All businesses must be operational for the past two financial years at a minimum.
  • Entries will be accepted from the business owner, staff, family or directors.
  • Entrants may compete in as many categories as they like.
  • Winners from every category will automatically be entered into the overall ActionCOACH Award for Outstanding Excellence.
  • Entrants’ details will only be accessible to members of the judging panel. The information you provide will not be sold or provided to any other business or mailing lists without your consent.
  • All financial information with be treated with the strictest confidence, and will only be used for the purpose of judging entries only. This information will not be disclosed to anyone outside the judging process.
  • Entrants for The 2UE Award for Best Young Gun in Small Business category, must not be more than 30 years old, on or up to 30 June 2010. Proof of age is required, please send a copy of your drivers licence or birth certificate with your entry submission.
  • Entrants for The ANZ Award For Best Start-Up Business, must have established their business from 1st January 2006 onwards, and submit annual turnover for the past two financial years.
  • Previous My Business Award Category WINNERS only are NOT able to enter the same Award category again. Eg: if your organisation won the My Business Best Small Business Award in the past, you are not able to enter this category again, however you are most welcome to enter all the other My BusinessAwards category’s.
  • My Business has the option to feature selected nominees in either print or online.
  • My Business has the right to withdraw an Award category at any time.
  • Entry submissions, promotional material and product samples will not be returned.
  • Entry submission is correct and true, and no false information has been supplied.

AWARDS TIMELINE

  •  Entries open on Monday 1st March 2010.
  • Entries strictly close at 5pm on Friday 20th August 2010. All entries via email, post or courier must be received by this date and time.
  • There will be three Finalists for each category, except The GIO Award for Best Small Business, where there will be five Finalists for this category only.
  • All Award Entrants will be notified if they are or are not a Finalist, by Wednesday 8th September 2010.
  • Each Category’s Finalist will receive one complimentary ticket to attend the Awards Presentation Dinner on Friday 24th September 2010 at The Ivy Room in Sydney.
  • Travel and accommodation to and from the Awards Presentation Dinner is at each Finalist's expense.
  • Category Award winners will be announced at the Award Dinner on Friday 24th September 2010.
  • Category Award winners will be required to participate in a photo-shoot at the Awards Dinner on Friday 24th September 2010.
  • Category Award Winners & Finalists will be featured in the November 2010 issue of My Business Magazine.
