The Australian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI) has launched a new information video to assist Australian employers implement work health and safety through the assistance of their employer associations.

Launched by Minister for Employment, Senator Eric Abetz and developed by ACCI, the video features input from small businesses with questions about meeting compliance with regulations and improving health and safety outcomes.

“Work health and safety makes good business sense,” Abetz said inlaunching the video. “It is timely to launch this initiative in Safe Work Australia month, under the banner Safety is a Frame of Mind.”

The video is an introduction for employers to adapt for their own needs, and is designed to be used in training or on websites to help small businesses who feel overwhelmed by health and safety regulation.

“Every business has questions about work health and safety and needs a trusted source to turn to,” ACCI CEO Peter Anderson added. “Work health and safety red tape looms large in ACCI surveys and Safe Work Australia’s research shows that businesses rely on their trusted business association for guidance.”

The promotion of sound work health and safety practices in Australian workplaces forms one of many key focus areas for the ACCI, and Anderson stated that work health and safety should be a priority for all businesses.

“This video asks some of the questions business raise when they implement new safety arrangements within their organisations,” he said. “Through their employer associations they can secure answers and learn from the experiences of others.”
