The Victorian Government is set to launch Support Small Business Day next week, a new initiative recognising the important contribution of Victorian small businesses and culminating in a statewide shopping event on Saturday October 19.

The Victorian Government says the campaign will provide capacity building opportunities for participating small businesses, through workshops, exclusive videos and more. Victorian small businesses can register to participate in the campaign online at www.supportsmallbusinessday.com.au from Monday 26 August, when the website goes live.

The campaign aims to encourage consumers to connect with Victoria’s small business sector and drive consumers to shop at participating Victorian businesses on 19 October. Victorians will be encouraged experience what small businesses in their community have to offer and how they enrich local communities. The National Australia Bank is partnering with the Victorian Government and funding $100,000 worth of consumer incentives and prizes for Victorians who shop at participating businesses on the day.

Consumers and retailers are encouraged to get involved by registering on the website from Monday August 26 to receive information about special offers. Interested parties can also Follow the event on Twitter and Instagram using @SupportSmall; and the hashtag #SupportSmall on social media; and by ‘Liking' this Facebook page.
