NSW Minister for Small Business and Primary Industries, Katrina Hodgkinson, has officially opened the Small Business Development Conference 2013, Australia’s largest ever conference of government-funded small business advisors in Sydney.

Opening the conference yesterday, Hodgkinson launched Adviser Connect, a new internal communication tool enabling Small Biz Connect advisers to seek and share information. Hodgkinson said the event, which wraps up today, provides advisers with a means of sharing insights that will assist the success and sustainability of NSW’s small businesses.

“The NSW Liberals & Nationals Government is committed to enhancing the State’s small businesses, and this new tool will facilitate knowledge sharing within the State’s extensive small business provider network,” Hodgkinson said. “There are more than 60 Small Biz Connect advisors based throughout NSW making high-quality advice more accessible than ever.

“The service is an opportunity for all small business owners and operators to access affordable, expert advice. In addition to providing business advice, this network of advisors will also provide a valuable means of identifying opportunities to cut red tape and resolve disputes through the Office of the Small Business Commissioner.”

Hodgkinson says the NSW Government is on track with its commitment to cut red tape by 20 per cent by 2015 and that 99 per cent of the inquiries to the Office of the Small Business Commissioner’s dispute resolution services have been resolved without legal action being taken.
