Small Biz Bus heads to drought-affected North West NSW

NSW Minister for Small Business Katrina Hodgkinson and Member for Barwon, Kevin Humphries, have announced that the Small Biz Bus will visit the drought-affected regions of Bourke, Brewarrina, Lightning Ridge, Walgett and Coonamble from February 3-6.

Minister Hodgkinson said that in addition to local Small Biz Connect advisers, small business owners who visit the bus during this tour of the NSW’s North West will also be able to speak with Rural Support Workers and the Rural Financial Counselling Service.

“Primary producers and communities in North West NSW are doing it tough as a result of the prolonged dreadful seasonal conditions,” Hodgkinson said. “For many producers, this current spell is one of the driest on record.

“The NSW Government has already put in place a $7.6 million emergency assistance package for primary producers in the Bourke, Brewarrina and Walgett local government areas and the Regional Assistance Advisory Committee (RAAC) is currently touring other regions.

“The committee will provide advice and, if required, recommendations for further emergency assistance measures to the NSW Government.”

Humphries added that small businesses, primary producers and the broader community across the Barwon electorate are currently experiencing the impacts of drought.

“I encourage all small business operators to visit the bus when it stops in your region to access support of expert advisers at no cost,” Humphries said.
