There are endless business strategy guides out there, but few really nail it. Here, Glen Carlson, co-founder of one of the world’s leading personal brand accelerator programs, lays out five bona fide business must-haves.

There are endless business strategy guides out there, but few really nail it. Here, Glen Carlson, co-founder of one of the world’s leading personal brand accelerator programs, lays out five bona fide business must-haves.

As co-founder of the 40 week ‘Key Person of Influence' growth accelerator in Australia (KPI Australia), Melbourne-based Glen Carlson has developed an international reputation for helping entrepreneurs build a brand, develop a profile and position themselves as key players in their industries. The Huffington Post recently named as‘Key Person of Influence' as, “the world’s leading personal brand accelerator” program.

Having worked with thousands of small businesses across Australia, the UK, Asia and the US, Carlson has identified the following five key elements that truly make the difference when it comes to serious business growth.

#1. A compelling pitch
Get better at pitching yourself. When people ask “what do you do?”, have a killer response up your sleeve.

#2. Published content
Get some of your content published. Don’t let your best thinking rattle around in your head. Write a blog, publish an article, produce a white paper (or finish that book you started) and get it into the hands of your target market.

#3. Hot products that people love to buy
Think of what you do as a product. Most people get stuck thinking about what they “do” rather than what their clients are trying to get done. How can you systemise, automate, delegate or outsource so you become the creator, not the worker?

#4. A profile; online and in the media
Raise your profile. For goodness sakes, stop being so damn modest! Let people know how much you can do for them and get in the paper, get online, get up and speak at events. Get known for what you’re good at.

#5. Powerful joint ventures and partnerships
Partner with key people. You’re going to burn out if you keep trying to do everything on your own. Someone woke up this morning who has a valuable missing piece for your business. Find them and work with them.

These best practices are used by some of the most respected brands in the world. You can learn more about developing these five strategies around your business – or business idea – at the forthcoming Entrepreneur Brand Accelerator events, where Carlson will be one of a handful of exciting speakers. These events are happening in Sydney (July 26), Melbourne (August 15), Brisbane (September 5), and in Perth in early 2015 (exact date TBA).
