NSW and ACT SMEs are the most positive about how much their businesses will grow – 5.8 percent average growth forecast for the next six months, compared with the national average of 3.9 percent

South Australian and NT small businesses were second most positive, predicting an average of 5.1 percent growth 

Queensland small businesses were the third most positive, predicting an average of 4.7 percent growth. Queensland had the highest percentage of businesses looking to expand domestically in the next six months (11.6 percent; national average 11.1 percent) but were just under the national average for international expansion (4.4 percent; national average 4.5 percent)

Western Australian SMEs were by far the least confident about their business prospects in the next six months, predicting an average of only 2.1 percent growth

Victorian and Tasmanian SMEs were the second most pessimistic about growth prospects, predicting an average of 3.5 percent. Vic and Tas small businesses were under the national average in all three expansion categories (10.7 percent planning domestic expansion, 3.7 percent planning overseas expansion and 7.7 percent planning both domestic and overseas expansion)

11.5 percent of NSW/ACT small businesses were planning to expand their business geographically (domestic) in the next six months (11.1 national average)

4.9 percent plan for overseas expansion (4.5 national average)

8.8 percent were planning both domestic and overseas expansion (8.4 percent national average)

10.7 percent of Victorian/Tasmanian small businesses were planning to expand their business geographically (domestic) in the next six months (11.1 national average)

3.7 percent plan for overseas expansion (4.5 national average)

7.7 percent were planning both domestic and overseas expansion (8.4 percent national average)

11.6 percent of Queensland small businesses were planning to expand their business geographically (domestic) in the next six months (11.1 national average)

8 percent were planning both domestic and overseas expansion (8.4 percent national average)

9.6 percent of WA small businesses were planning to expand their business geographically (domestic) in the next six months (11.1 national average)

3.6 percent plan for overseas expansion (4.5 national average)

7.8 percent were planning both domestic and overseas expansion (8.4 percent national average)

9.6 percent of SA/NT small businesses were planning to expand their business geographically (domestic) in the next six months (11.1 national average)
