Strong demand for Australian-made products in China has led to the launch of a new 'Oz-Town' store in Shanghai during this month’s ‘Australia Week in China’.
The store showcases a range of goods certified by the Australian Made Campaign. It is the first of a chain of stores that are planned to be rolled out in the country, although specific locations and dates were not immediately available.
My Business can confirm that among the products being retailed in the Oz-Town store are skincare products by VITAMAN and Juddarnje, chocolate dips by Wicked Dips, Zoom coffee, Revivol’s natural hangover cure and complementary medicines produced by Australian by Nature.
“The launch of the ‘Oz-Town’ stores will offer new market opportunities for producers of genuine Aussie products and produce, while providing local consumers with a ‘one-stop shop’ for authentic Australian goods,” said Ben Lazzaro, the deputy chief executive of Australian Made Campaign.
“Online sales of Australian products and produce in China are booming, but people still want to try before they buy.”
The second Australia Week in China was held across multiple Chinese cities between 11 and 15 April, and was one of Australia’s largest business delegations to China.
It focuses on driving trade, investment, education and tourism opportunities for Australian businesses in China.
Among the sectors participating in this year’s event were agribusiness, health and aged care, urban sustainability, water management, premium food and beverage, tourism and financial services.
