All NSW Government agencies are now required to use the Procure IT framework, which will provide a model for joint government and industry engagement. The framework was developed in close consultation with the ICT industry, and Pearce says it will energise the sector by cutting red tape and reducing legal costs.
“Under Procure IT, ownership of the intellectual property will remain with the supplier – this will provide businesses with a greater opportunity to commercialise their products and grow their business,” Pearce explains. “It provides an incentive for companies to develop new ideas and commercialise their goods and services they supply to the Government.”
The requirement to use the Procure IT framework comes from the NSW Procurement Board and extends to all Government agencies.
“Australia’s information and communications technology sector will benefit from the mandatory use by the NSW Government of standard procurement contracts,” Pearce says.
“The Government is committed to working with industry to make the experience of doing business easier, simpler and more cost-effective.”
