The annual My Business Awards, which recognises the finest SME business owners throughout the country and honours their business achievements, is returning for its 13th consecutive staging in 2013.

This year, business coaching organisation ActionCOACH continues its decade-long association with the My Business Awards, returning as the naming rights sponsor of the premier calendar event for successful SME business owners. ActionCOACH are sponsoring the Overall Award for Excellence, while GIO Insurance Australia (Best Small Business and Women In Business Awards) and iiNET have also confirmed their support of the 2013 My Business Awards. The winning business owner in each of the eight award categories will receive prizes to the value of $5,000.

While last year’s Awards were held in The Hilton's Grand Ballroom, this year the My Business /Toro Media team will shake up the traditional business awards night formula and reinvigorate the My Business Awards with a fresh, entertaining and lively new format and bring it to a new Sydney venue. That venue, and the exact date of the event (slated for late September or early October) will be announced in the coming months. Awards2012LG

Tina Tower of early childhood education business Begin Bright, who was awarded both the GIO Women In Business and ActionCOACH Overall Award for Excellence at the 2012 My Business Awards, says that becoming a My Business Award winner last September has allowed her business to gain newfound exposure and opened the door to many new opportunities. Tower is pictured right with Ben Fewtrell from ActionCOACH.

“The recognition for all the hard work we’ve put in and the growth that we’ve had is just beautiful, and it’s also great publicity,” Tower says.

“Winning the GIO Small Business Award in 2012 would have to be our biggest success to date,” adds Same Lane, who’s print and design business Mercury Creative was another winner at last year’s Awards. “Having an external party recognise the hard work we put into creating a business is such an awesome feeling. It’s rare that people see all the hard work, and even rarer that they congratulate you on it.”

In the lead up to the event, each issue of My Business will feature further coverage on the 2013 My Business Awards, including information about how and when you can enter. So watch this space.
