Rebates available for mouse plague-affected businesses

07 July 2021 1 minute readShare

Small businesses located in regional and rural NSW are being encouraged to apply for rebates if they have been affected by the state’s mouse plague.

Businesses and households in certain areas of NSW can claim a rebate for the cost of buying mouse baits, traps and cleaning materials. Small businesses are eligible to claim up to $1,000 while households are eligible to claim up to $500.

Further, primary producers are able to claim a single rebate of up to $1,000 where their business and residence share an address. The government’s website noted that multiple receipts can be used to claim the rebate, up to the $500 or $1,000 limits.

To be eligible to claim a rebate, the business must be located in one of the following Local Land Services Regions listed: Central Tablelands, Central West, Northern Tablelands, North West, Western, Riverina, Murray, Hunter (Upper Hunter and Muswellbrook LGAs only) and South East (Hilltops, Upper Lachlan and Yass Valley LGAs only).

To make an application for the rebate, the applicant must provide receipts to Service NSW when they lodge a claim. The rebate applies to products purchased on or after 1 February 2021.
