Nine-times Olympic champion Carl Lewis is one of the most revered athletes of all time, thanks to feats that included winning a Gold Medal for long jump at four successive Olympic Games. My Business editor Simon Sharwood heard him speak this week on how to perform at your best while serving your team.

My Business editor Simon Sharwood is attending technology conference VMWorld 2011 this week.

One of the many parties at the event was thrown by backup software vendor Acronis, which invited Carl Lewis to speak.

We made to the party in time to hear the nine-times Olympic champion speak on the subject of performance, and how when he ran in relays he worked to give his team the best chance of winning.

The video we captured is a bit wonky - "refreshments" were plentiful and free at the party and we shot on an iPhone - but if you can put up with some wobbles you may learn an interesting approach to leading your business.

Simon Sharwood travelled to VMworld 2011 as a guest of VMware, which paid for his flights and accommodation.
