If you'd like to clean up your business and help clean up your corner of the world, circle February 28th on your calendar because it's 2012's Business Clean Up Day.
The idea, which comes from the folks at Clean Up Australia, is simple: use the day to give your office a thorough going-over and also kick off new environment-friendly initiatives like recycling, changing to recycled paper or maybe even doing something about food waste in your business.
Last year's event went gangbusters - Clean Up Australia says businesses, communities and schools together removed 16,500 tonnes.
“We’re urging all Australians businesses to work together to clean up the environment or introduce more environmentally friendly policies in their own work environment,” said Clean Up Australia’s Chairman and Founder, Ian Kiernan AO.“Everyone can do their bit for Australia, individually or as part of a team. Business Clean Up Day is a simple way your business can clean up, fix up and conserve our greatest resource – Australia.”
This year, the event may also help your business as Clean Up Australia has created a Business Circle for businesses who take part in the day.
“We are dedicated to encouraging the Australian business community to become more environmentally responsible. Exclusively for our members the new Clean Up Australia Business Circle will provide the opportunity for businesses to share their environmental tips and successes with each other. Business can also do their bit for the environment by making a donation to Clean Up Australia, and helping us continue our work” said Mr Kiernan.
