Aussie start-up beats global giants

A little-known Aussie start-up has taken out a global award for its corporate social responsibility program in an event attended by the likes of beverage giants, including Coca Cola and PepsiCo.

Sydney founded performance drink Shine+ received the award at the World Beverage Innovation Awards in Munich, Germany, which was held on 14 September.

The company is partnered with Water for Life, which provides clean drinking water to people in need.

Under the partnership, Shine+ provides one day’s worth of clean drinking water to someone for every bottle of its mental performance enhancing drink it sells. To date, more than 250,000 days of drinking water have been donated, despite the company being in operation for less than a year.

Shine+ was also a finalist for the Best New Beverage Concept Award.

“It’s a real honour to be a part of this prestigious event, and an even greater one to win an award,” CEO and co-founder Stephen Chapman said.

“We feel incredibly lucky that all our hard work has been recognised and for such a vital cause. Over 780 million people in the world lack access to safe water and it was core in our vision to build a way we could also give back as well as help everyday Australians be at their best.”

Shine+ was launched in late 2016, and has already secured some 500 stockists including IGA supermarkets, Harris Farm Markets, Zambreros and The Co-Op bookstores.
