The search has begun for the very best and brightest Australian small and mid-sized businesses — and the people behind them — with submissions now open for this year’s Optus My Business Awards.
Australia’s longest-standing business awards launched submissions for the 2018 event on 1 August, with the addition of 10 new categories, including beauty services, fitness and wellbeing, home and lifestyle, and wedding business.
This year’s event will also see a new category for not-for-profits, recognising the valuable contribution these organisations make to the communities they serve and the people they employ. Another new addition is the Indigenous Business Leader of the Year award.
“Too often, business owners and operators feel isolated and their efforts unappreciated; the Optus My Business Awards is a great opportunity to recognise both individual and team achievements among Australia’s SME community,” My Business editor Adam Zuchetti said.
“Every single day, the team here at My Business comes across businesses from all over the country achieving amazing things: innovative new products, better ways to meet the needs of their customers, and incredible methods of engaging and rewarding their teams.
“We are so proud to be able to acknowledge and reward these efforts and continue to celebrate excellence at the very heart of Australia’s economic prosperity.”
This year’s black tie gala dinner will be held at The Star in Sydney’s Darling Harbour on Friday, 9 November.
Submissions are open until 5:30 pm on Friday, 31 August 2018, with finalists to be announced in mid-September. Nominations can also be made for stand-out businesses.
Many past winners of the long-running awards program have gone on to become iconic Australian brands, including Boost Juice, H2Coco, Red Balloon Days and Roses Only. In 2017, Source Legal was crowned Business of the Year. At the time, founder Stanislav Roth said the win was “seriously unbelievable — we were surprised to win in our category, but to win overall is incredible; it's very humbling.”
Full details of the event and awards categories, highlights from last year’s event and a list of previous winners can be found on the Optus My Business Awards 2018 website.
