With submissions for this year’s My Business Awards closing this week, time is running out for small and medium businesses and their leaders to get their entries in.

Nominations are now open for the 2019 awards, but businesses only have until close of business this Friday, 6 September, to enter.

New categories in 2019 include Wellness Initiative of the Year, Indigenous Business of the Year and Franchise Network of the Year.

Other categories cover specific sectors, including defence, health services, travel and tourism as well as energy, with the winner crowned best of their industry.

Individual category winners then go into the running to be named overall Business of the Year.

More information on the awards and comments previous winners on how the award has helped their business can be found here.

My Business also spoke with senior events producer Bronwyn Cooksley about what makes for a standout awards submission — and what is likely to see an application fail — and devised this checklist for a knock-out award entry based on Ms Cooksley’s and previous judges’ feedback.

The prestigious black-tie event will be held on Friday, 15 November, at Sydney’s The Star. Finalists will be announced in early October.

Best of luck!
