Top 5 MyBusiness webcasts of 2020

Having recognised at the onset of the COVID-19 crisis that small to medium businesses need all the support they can get, MyBusiness took to developing its webcast into a medium that would facilitate a conversation between the business community, the ATO and other key figures in this space.

Free to access and available to view from across Australia, the MyBusiness webcast soon became a central distributor of all the most up-to-date information on the government’s key stimulus packages.

Let’s take a look at the top 5 MyBusiness webcasts of 2020.

Everything you need to know and do about JobKeeper 2.1

Breaking our personal best was this September event, which brought together ATO Deputy Commissioner James O’Halloran, Australian Small Business and Family Enterprise Ombudsman Kate Carnell and MYOB CEO Greg Ellis.

The trio, joined by host Maja Garaca Djurdjevic, discussed the JobKeeper extension, providing key insights into eligibility, alternative tests, identifying employees, all elements of the infamous “one in, all in” rule, and much more.

The webcast is still available to view here.

The ATO and the Australian Small Business and Family Enterprise Ombudsman explain how the JobKeeper affects your business

This webcast kicked off MyBusiness’ 2020 broadcasting journey in the age of a pandemic.

Hosted in May, it saw another impressive line-up made up of Deborah Jenkins, Deputy Commissioner of Small Business from the ATO; Kate Carnell, ASBFEO; and Sam Allert, CEO of Reckon.

The trio, again joined by Maja, unpacked JobKeeper, which at the time was a fairly new concept.

They spoke about how the wage subsidy affects businesses and what steps they need to take to become part of the scheme.

Your JobKeeper questions answered

This webcast followed the record-setting “Everything you need to know and do about JobKeeper 2.1” webcast.

Following the very high influx of questions from audience members tuning into the first explanatory JobKeeper 2.1 webcast, MyBusiness decided to bring in an expert panel to help business audiences decipher all their concerns.

Our expert panel included tax legend Tony Greco, the Institute of Public Accountants general manager of technical policy; Debra Anderson, leading small business specialist and accountant; Ben Thompson, CEO and founder at Employment Hero; and Simon Obee, powerhouse lawyer in the SME employment law space.

Commercial success in a COVID-safe Australia will be a very different proposition to what most business owners have come to know and understand.
