In 2015, the high-profile couple launched Sesión Premium Tequila, which produces out of the Tierra de Agaves distillery in Mexico.
A year later, it took out a gold and two silver medals at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition — an award for each of its three varieties.
Now, the business has inked a partnership with the LA Clippers for the 2019–20 NBA season.
As well as branded signage throughout the team’s home arena and messaging attached to promotions and social media, Clippers season ticket holders will be offered samples of Sesión’s three varieties of tequila, which include a mocha flavour as well as two other takes on the spirit.
It comes at a particularly special yet busy time for the couple, who welcomed the birth of their first child only a week ago.
“It’s been a very special week for Jake and I, bringing our little girl Frankie into the world, and now we are super excited to announce that our Aussie start-up Sesión Tequila is partnering with the LA Clippers,” Ms Hawkins said.
“We are pumped about showcasing Sesión to a new audience as we continue to roll out across California.”
While Sesión had already launched into the Californian market, with a presence in selected restaurants, retailers and venues, the NBA deal marks its first major partnership in the lucrative US market.
“All three of us watched the Clippers win their first game against the Lakers with the Sesión logo splashed around the stadium, which was surreal and exciting!” Ms Hawkins said.
