CanGro on their serum for success
Felecia Tappenden and Belinda Robinson describe their partnership as 'yin and yang'. "Belinda is big picture," describes Felecia, and "Felecia is so detailed," says Belinda. It's clear this duo just work.
Their business CanGro manufactures Aussie-made eyelash serum, collagen powder and a skincare range – and since the COVID-19 pandemic began they've seen a 450% increase in sales.
Felecia feels guilty about their success and says of the experience: "To be honest, never in a million years did we expect our business to thrive with COVID.
"We had to brace ourself for the worst. We bunkered down and thought, 'Okay, this could be the end of us, our business could go under'."
"We were quite worried. When in fact, it's done the complete opposite. We've seen almost over 450% growth in sales and in fact, probably more."
The pair are proud of their lean business model and pride themselves on their customer service – making sure to respond to email and phone enquiries within 24 hours.
Belinda and Felecia have made sure to keep in regular contact with both their online customers and the beauty salons that stock their products throughout the pandemic.
Belinda explains: "We really pride ourselves on looking after our customers, giving them as much information [as possible], helping them to sell and helping them to do well.
"At this moment, they've got no income. Felecia set up this amazing Dropbox with lots of images. We're sending it to them saying, 'Send these out to your customers, tell them that they should buy this serum. Get some pre-orders'."
"They're so panicked... One of them said, 'Oh, my God, Belinda, I didn't even think about that'. She got her pre-order of 35 serums."
"That is a lot of revenue [for that salon], that's three or $4,000 that she would have not made. So I feel that we care, we do care."
