Australian employers are being encouraged to take part in the Survey of Australian Employers being conducted by the National Centre for Vocational Education Research (NCVER) over coming months.
For the survey, employers will be randomly selected from the Australian Business Register between now and June and asked to participate to identify the ways in which they meet their skill needs and how effective these strategies are.
The survey, which only takes around 10 minutes to complete, aims to collect the views of 9,000 employers, from across the country and from all industry sectors. It is an important tool to help Australian business, trainers and all governments understand how our training sector is fairing and where improvements need to be made.
Dr Craig Fowler, Managing Director of the NCVER, said the survey provides employers with an opportunity to have their say and help shape future training.
“We want to know how organisations employ and train their staff, and how effective this training is at meeting their needs,” Fowler said. “We’d like to hear from all employers, not just those providing training. It’s essential we talk to a range of Australian employers to ensure we get a clear picture of the ways employers are meeting their skill needs.”
The Survey of Australian Employers is a biennial survey conducted on behalf of the Australian, state and territory governments. The results will be published on NCVER’s Portal in late 2015 in Australian vocational education and training statistics: Employers’ use and views of the VET system. Results from the last survey, conducted in 2013, are available from www.ncver.edu.au/publications/2675.html.
