NSW Minister for Small Business Katrina Hodgkinson is encouraging SME owners in the greater Sydney region to attend next week’s Sydney leg of NSW Small Business Commissioner Yasmin King’s current listening tour.
King’s listening tour is part of her efforts to get out and about and meet SME owners throughout the State to hear the issues they are currently facing, which will inform a forthcoming Consultation Paper on proposed legislation to support the role of the NSW Small Business Commissioner. SME owners attending the event will have the chance to discuss with King (picture right), amongst other things, the tools and functions they think the NSW Small Business Commissioner should have.
“It is important the Commissioner has the appropriate powers and responsibilities to assist our State’s vital small business sector, and this consultation process will ensure the NSW Small Business Commissioner legislation reflects best practice and meets the needs of our small businesses,” Hodgkinson explains.
“This Consultation Paper is seeking the public’s comments on the role and functions of the Commissioner; I encourage small business operators to come along to have their views heard on the role of the Small Business Commissioner.”
SME owners can attend the event and meet King at the NSW Trade & Investment Centre (Level 47, MLC Centre, 19 Martin Place, Sydney NSW 2000) on Tuesday July 3 from 0730-0900.
The Consultation Paper, a survey, and details about King’s listening tour are available at www.smallbusiness.nsw.gov.au. The consultation period for the paper ends at 1700 on Friday July 27.
