WorkCover NSW is launching a new safety initiative for small business owners in the Illawarra region that will enable them to access free after-hours practical work health and safety advice for their business.
The Small Business Assistance After-Hours Program offers Illawarra small business owners the chance to meet one-on-one with a WorkCover inspector after hours during July and August and receive advice and assistance on how to make their business more productive, healthy and safe. Any small business in the region is welcome to participate in the program, in which they can discuss with a WorkCover inspector a range of issues including work health and safety laws, recent licensing changes, workers compensation and return to work programs.
“Small businesses can be time and resource poor, making prioritising safety a challenge,” WorkCover NSW Regional South Team Manager Billy McColl said. “Any business that participates in the program may also be eligible for a rebate of up to $500 through our Small Business Rebate Program, which can be used to purchase and install safety improvements. I encourage all Illawarra small businesses that want to make their business and workers safer to contact us.”
Meetings will be held at WorkCover’s Wollongong Office, with after-hours appointments available weekdays during July and August from 1630-1730. Small business owners that can’t make an after-hours appointment can book a visit to their workplace from a WorkCover Inspector during July and August.
To participate in the Small Business Assistance After-Hours or Inspector at your Service programs, contact the WorkCover Wollongong Office on 4228 6700. More information is available on Workcover NSW’S small business website.
