Workers can now use their Australian visa (including electronic visas) to verify their identity in the myGovID app if they’re a permanent or temporary resident of Australia, the ATO said on its website.
They will need to enter the details of their foreign passport on their myGovID app to verify their Australian visa online.
If workers have a basic myGovID, they may also be eligible to upgrade to a standard myGovID, which the ATO said will give them more access to government online services.
“If you’re upgrading and are currently authorised as a basic user in Relationship Authorisation Manager (RAM), discuss your access requirements with your principal authority or authorisation administrator,” the ATO said.
“To change your level of access, they’ll need to create a new authorisation for you.”
Managing authorisations and access
In addition, principal authorities or authorisation administrators can also view user access to online services using the Access history report in Access Manager.
“This report can be created for one or all authorised users and includes the date, time of login and online service accessed,” the ATO said.
They can also export the details of authorisations into a spreadsheet format (CSV file) from RAM.
For principal authorities that have linked a not-for-profit organisation in RAM, the ATO said they’ll receive a notification via email if another principal authority also links.
MyGovID and RAM replaced the ATO’s former AUSkey system on 27 March.
