This award recognises the young business leader that has most effectively shaped their business’s success and delivered outstanding growth and development.
It is open to all business leaders under 35 years of age (at 30 June 2017) that hold a senior position in an SME (CEO, director, manager or equivalent title) and is based on the period of the 2017 financial year.
To be eligible for this award, the business needs to have 200 or fewer employees as of 30 June 2017 and must be registered in Australia (or respective state/territory) as a sole trader, a partnership, or an incorporated or listed business.
The nominee must be a shareholder in the business and be living in Australia as an Australian citizen or have Australian residency status.
Assessment criteria
Please answer the following questions (400 words max per question):

Detail your approach to leadership, diversity and inclusion, and how it influences your actions and activities in your business

Highlight the initiatives you have developed as the leader in your business, detailing their success

Demonstrate the tactics and strategies used to generate new, repeat and referred business plus any marketing campaigns to support this

Highlight innovation in your business and how it has impacted its growth

Outline the staff management/development strategies you have implemented in your business to ensure you attract/retain the best talent

What is a major obstacle your business overcame and how did your leadership ensure a favourable outcome?
Supporting documents
You are encouraged to provide and refer to any attached supporting material for the judges’ consideration. This material may differ depending on the category and can include financial or business metrics, images, statistics, media coverage and other relevant information. If documents are not directly referenced and relevant to your submission, they will be disregarded. You may submit a maximum of FOUR supporting documents to strengthen your entry, unless directly requested.
We also encourage entrants to submit an optional short video up to 30 seconds long answering the question, “What does business success mean to you?”
