This policy can be used by all employers.

Commentary

The policy sets out the workers’ obligations to the environment.

The primary purpose of an Environmental Policy is to:

  • provide a framework to bring together the different accountabilities involved in different areas of environmental responsibility and sustainability;
  • promote sound environmental practices which will prevent and minimise damage to the environment; and
  • improve environmental efficiency.

Disciplinary action may be necessary in response to non-compliance with the Environmental Policy. The disciplinary response will be proportionate to the breach. Disciplinary action may involve a verbal or written warning, or in serious cases, termination of employment or engagement.
