Who can use this policy

This Personal Phone Calls at Work Policy can be used by all employers.

Commentary

This policy applies to employees, agents and contractors (including temporary contractors), collectively referred to in the Policy as 'workplace participants'.

This policy does not set out a regimented system of appropriate and inappropriate topics to be discussed in personal calls. Rather, the Policy focuses on the potentially disruptive impact of personal calls at work by encouraging workplace participants to keep the number and duration of personal calls at work to a minimum. The Policy also focuses on workplace participants using company phones to make personal calls, including fee for service numbers and international calls.

The Policy contains an option whereby you can notify workplace participants that their personal calls should not exceed a specified period of time.
